the AFO*, is finally here!
DRAG TO ROTATE
The only orthosis designed for those whose ability to walk is hindered by spasticity caused by a central nervous system disorder (e.g.: stroke, multiple sclerosis, etc.)
Similar devices are generally contraindicated by the manufacturer itself in cases of moderate to severe foot spasticity.
(*AFO: ankle foot orthosis)
Opponent® is the only orthosis that prevents the forefoot and ankle from rotating inward. This allows the weight of the body to be distributed immediately and safely.
Absent when the subject with spasticity is stationary, the supination reflex occurs when walking, which results in a hindered or slower gait as the weight of the body is prevented from being distributed to the paretic side.
Though the gait remains spastic, it will be safer and more stable, therefore faster.
• Made of composite fibres.
• Easy to put on and take off with just one hand!
• It can be worn with any shoe, without altering its efficacy.
DO YOU HAVE FOOT DROP INSTEAD OF SPASTIC FOOT?
If your ankles are weak and unstable and your gait is hindered,
MAY BE RIGHT FOR YOU
A sprained ankle is another frequent complication in cases of flaccid foot from central paralysis (drop foot) due to a central nervous system (CNS) disorder.
People with foot drop face a milder but similar challenge:
In this case, ankle instability and internal rotation are due to the weight of the body.
Opponent® provides great support for the flaccid foot, with all the advantages mentioned above:
• Improved ankle stability.
• Better security and therefore the ability to walk faster.
• Can be worn with any style of shoe.
• It can be put on and taken off in an instant, with just one hand!
